The Florida Society for Technology in Education (FSTE) provides a cohesive, unified organization to represent the concerns of people who are interested in instructional technology in Florida. FSTE was originally established in 1985 as Florida Association for Computers in Education (FACE). The name was changed to Florida Society for Technology in Education at the January 2010 membership meeting at FETC.
FSTE members include PreK-20 educators, students, parents, educational institutions and corporations. FSTE operates as an independent, member-financed, non-profit organization. State officers are elected annually in the fall by an email membership vote, and officers are formally installed during FETC, which. FSTE co-sponsors.
FSTE is an affiliate of ISTE, the International Society for Technology in Education, and a sister organization to FCITL (district instructional technology leaders), FAEDS (data systems) and FAME (media specialists).
Organizations, both for profit and nonprofit, who work in K-20 schools with ed tech can find teachers to help write curriculum, draft teachers guides, provide PD and more through FSTE. Organizations are encouraged to join through corporate membership fee. Educational publishers are also encouraged to donate items to FSTE for raffles, workshops and events and to provide speakers for webinars and workshops. Together, we all work to improve education and use of ed tech by Florida students in the classroom and at home!
